Japan - Hashima Island - City Fortress

Located in the sea of Japan is one of the 505 non habitated islands in the Nagasaki region. This little island was populated between 1884 ans 1974. In 1956 around 5200 people lived on the island ( around 850 per acre) and worked on the coal extraction, the main source of employment on the island. When the mines shut down all the island was evacuated and remained untouched by several years. It was re-opened in 2008 for tourists. In the latest James Bond movie a great part of the major action was filmed there. A great place to visit and to discover.
